Oak Creek Charter School Principal Jose Rubio recognized by Florida TaxWatch with Principal Leadership Award
April 8, 2022 – Oak Creek Charter School (OCCS) is proud to announce and congratulate Principal Jose Rubio for being recognized by the Florida TaxWatch as one of nine elite principals in Florida for the 2021-22 school year. The Principal Leadership Award program is exclusively data-based and recognizes principals who have had a measurable impact on the lives of their students. The TaxWatch organization established the Principal Leadership Award program in 2014 to identify Florida’s most effective principals in high-risk K-12 public schools, recognize and reward their work, and promote their transformational practices throughout the state. Mr. Rubio was hired by FORZA Education Management (FORZA) in 2016 when FORZA assumed the operations of the school. FORZA and Mr. Rubio collaborated and worked together to improve the school by remodeling the facility, installing a new computer lab, adding a synthetic turf athletic area and covered basketball courts, enhancing the technology and curriculum school-wide, improving the student academic performance, by hiring the most highly qualified staff in the area, and constructing a new state of the art facility which opened in 2021. Oak Creek Charter School is a public charter school that promotes excellence in physical education and health for its students through a curriculum that integrates technology, sports, and fitness. Mr. Rubio was honored to receive the prestigious award for the great work that OCCS has accomplished. As Mr. Rubio stated, “although this recognizes the principal, this award is a recognition of everyone at OCCS, the parents, faculty, staff, and of course the students.” This award also includes the nomination of a student at OCCS to receive a two-year scholarship to any college in Florida sponsored by the Florida Lottery. Mr. Rubio nominated Gael Romero, and Gael received the official notice regarding the scholarship last Friday. Gael stated, “it is an honor to receive this award, and I would like to thank Mr. Rubio (principal), my teachers, and everyone at OCCS.” Congratulations to both of them, Mr. Rubio and Gael Romero. Oak Creek Charter School currently serves over 600 students in grades K-8 and is enrolling students for the 22-23 school year. Oak Creek Charter School is proudly managed by FORZA Education Management. FORZAedu.com
